CGC Jhanjeri Celebrated International Women’s Day 2022
2 min readMohali, March 8, 2022: Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri Celebrated International Women’s Day 2022 at its campus. As many as 720 students participated in the event along with the faculty members of the college. The guests of honour of the event were Komal Mittal IAS ADC SAS Nagar, Aakansha Sareen Actor & Model, Rampreet Kaur International Anchor PTC News, Anjum Moudgil Athlete Olympian & Arjuna Awardee, RJ Kashish to showcase and highlight women’s achievements, initiatives undertaken for eliminating gender based discrimination and positive shift towards greater empowerment of women in all domains.
The program started with the welcome speech on importance of women’s day which commemorates the inspiring role of women around the world to secure women’s rights and build more equitable societies. Komal Mittal IAS, ADC said at the moment that if we educate a boy, we educate one person. If we educate a girl, we educate a family and a whole nation. She stressed that Education is very important for every child whether boy or girl.
Anjum Moudgil Athlete Olympian & Arjuna Awardee 2019 said at the moment that woman is the power to create, nurture and transform .The word ‘woman’ conjures up the images of selfless love, care and affection. At the same time, women ignite the spirit of power and hope. Unfortunately, across the world, women had to fight for their independence and protection of rights. Since decades, women had struggled and are still fighting to express their right to speech, to vote, to equality, to education, to income and most importantly, to freedom.
According to Aakansha Sareen being a strong woman means asking for what you deserve, though she will be called selfish and impatient. She stressed on loving yourself when the rest of society says you are too big or too skinny or too dark or too tall or too short or too much or too little etc. Message to dream big and work for it was given to the students.
Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC said at the moment that we look towards the future with a renewed sense of dedication, vigor, and commitment to strive to empower women and girls so that they can exercise their rights fully, use their voices freely, determine their life outcomes, and live their lives free from intimidation, harassment, and violence.
