Fortis Mohali celebrates International Nurses Day to salute unwavering commitment of its nursing staff

Mohali, May 12, 2024: To recognize the efforts of the nursing community and the selfless service rendered to patients, a host of cultural activities were organised to observe International Nurses Day at Fortis Hospital Mohali from 6th May to 11th May.

International Nurses Day is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale on 12th May every year. The theme of this year’s event is ‘Our Nurses. Our Future. The economic power of care.’

The week-long celebrations kicked off with a hand hygiene activity and a rangoli competition held at the facility on 6th May. To promote the best practices of waste management, the nursing staff participated in a ‘Wealth out of waste’ activity and quiz on the following day on 7th May. The employees from several departments also participated in a pot painting competition followed by a face painting contest on 8th May. The nursing staff dressed as brides of different states also participated in a ramp walk on May 9. An informative talk on ‘Health & Hygiene’ was organized for underprivileged girls at Guru Asra Charitable Trust, Mohali.

The series of events concluded with a glittering function held at the facility on May 10. The theme-opening ceremony was attended by the nursing staff and senior leadership of Fortis Mohali including Abhijit Singh, Head-SBU; Vikramjit Singh, Medical Director; Indrajeet Singh, General Manager; and Nikethana R, Chief of Nursing, Fortis Mohali. Dr. Harmeet Kaur Kang, Principal & Director, Chitkara School of Nursing, was the chief guest.

The nursing staff was administered the pledge by Chief of Nursing Nikethana, which was followed by a dance session. To recognise the selfless service of the nursing staff, prizes were distributed under various categories such as Operation Theatre, Ward and Intensive Care Unit.

The Vote of Thanks was also given by Chief of Nursing Nikethana R.

Meanwhile, to also raise awareness about May being observed as the Mental Health Awareness Month, a team comprising ACON and other nursing in-charges visited Prabh Aasra, a home for mentally challenged and destitute people. Goodies & Provisions were distributed among the inmates.
