Haryana State Vigilance Bureau arrested branch manager of The Faridabad Central Cooperative Bank, Palwal

Chandigarh, February 17, 2022: Continuing crackdown on corrupt officials, Haryana State Vigilance Bureau has arrested branch manager of The Faridabad Central Cooperative Bank, Palwal red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000.

Giving this information here today, a spokesperson of the Bureau said that the officer identified as Ujender Singh, sought Rs 25,000 as bribe to release the subsidy on bank loan to the complainant.  

The complainant, Ranbir Singh who belongs to the Scheduled Caste category had applied for a loan and received a subsidy of Rs 1.05 lakh into his account on the bank loan. When he went to the branch to withdraw the subsidy amount, the bank manager demanded Rs 25,000 to release the funds.

The complainant informed the vigilance which laid a trap and arrested the manager red-handed. The sleuths also recovered the bribe money from the accused who was then taken into police custody.

A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered. Further investigation is underway.
